As many millions of people in Britain have done throughout the pandemic - I joined the Green Fingered Army and got out in the garden. My garden looked tired, unloved and overgrown - I don't have many before pictures, but I will list the arduous tasks that took a lot of hard sweat, hours and more than a few broken nails...

I broke the tasks down as follows:

  • Painting the fences (30 meters of fences)

  • Jetwashing and staining the decking

  • Repainting and replanting the brick flowerbeds

  • Cleaning all the garden furniture

  • Trimming the trees and bushes

  • Weeding the gravel and the front paving

Here's some of the work as it progressed:

Why do I post about this stuff on my blog?

Because it may be inspirational to someone. And I have found that by doing small jobs, one by one, literally break down the big picture into much smaller chunks, it is possible to achieve a lot more than I ever could have imagined single handed! It did not cost me the earth to get the garden looking like an inviting space, one where I was able to rest, read and relax as the summer went on...
