Arting Around

Fancied doing a little painting or two...

TOOLS: Masking Tape, Acrylic Paints, Brush, Sponge, Box Canvas

Mini Canvas Trial:

Step 1 - Placed strips of masking tape onto the canvas and painted inside the shapes

Step 2 - Pulled up the tape to reveal crisp edges

Step 3 - Placed more tape over the top and painted more shapes

Step 4 - Pulled up the tape to reveal my finished picture

Steps can be repeated numerous times until the desire effect is ready

Main Painting

I then took the idea to a larger scale and incorporated more colour:

Step 1 - Painted the background in bright shapes freehand first

Step 2 - Put masking tape on the canvas to create some shapes and paint

Step 3 - Peel back the masking tape

Step 4 - Highlighted the borders to accentuate the colours

Decided not to repeat the shapes over the top on this painting - feel happy with the result:
